According to the Reuters news agency, Indonesia's state-owned refinery Pertamina plans to buy various types of Russian crude oil in September. This action is taken after years of not importing oil from Russia and also due to the recent tensions between Russia and Ukraine.
Pertamina had refused to import Russian oil since the beginning of Western sanctions against Russia and the imposition of a price ceiling on this country's oil. Pertamina's last purchase from Russia more than 10 years ago included ESPO and Sokol mixed crudes.

Currently, Pertamina has submitted a request to buy Russian Ural oil along with Kirkuk, Jubilee, Al-Shakhin and other types of sour oil for the Sila Kap refinery in the period of September 15-17. It also requests the purchase of BTC sweet oil, Libya's Al-Sharara and Nigeria's Kwa Iboe for September 18-20.
Pertamina's condition for buying Russian crude oil is to comply with the price ceiling set by the West, which should not exceed $60 per barrel of oil. This condition allows Western shipping and insurance companies to participate in the Russian oil business.
Pertamina's spokesperson, Hermansiah Nasroen, has emphasized that the company will buy Russian oil only if all relevant regulations, including the price ceiling mechanism, are met.
