Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP):
This 4,128 km pipeline will transport natural gas from Nigeria to Algeria, passing through Niger. It aims to supply gas to European markets. The project is expected to carry 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually, connecting Nigeria’s resource-rich fields to regional African markets and European markets via the Mediterranean coast.
African Renaissance Pipeline Project (ARP):
Spanning 2,600 km, this pipeline will connect Mozambique's gas-rich Rovuma basin to South Africa's Gauteng province. The $6 billion project, set to be completed by 2026, will have an annual capacity of 18 billion cubic meters and is a joint venture between Mozambican oil and gas company Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos, Profin Consulting Sociedade Anónima, South Africa’s SacOil Holdings, and China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau.
- Transmed Gas Pipeline: This 2,475 km pipeline carries gas from Algeria to Italy via Tunisia and Sicily. With a capacity of 110 million cubic meters per day, it currently transports 60 million cubic meters. In response to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, Italian energy company Eni and Algerian state-owned oil company Sonatrach have agreed to increase gas flow by an additional 9 billion cubic meters per year by 2023-2024.
- East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP): This 1,443 km pipeline links Uganda's oil fields to the Tanzanian port of Tanga, facilitating crude oil exports. Set to become the world’s longest heated oil pipeline upon completion in 2025, it will transport oil from Hoima, in western Uganda, to the port-city of Tanga in Tanzania. The project involves the extraction of oil from the Kingfisher and Tilenga Fields, operated by the China National Offshore Oil Corporation and TotalEnergies, respectively.
